“For the past several years, I have watched Magna evolve and enjoyed working with the community in its redevelopment efforts.
“People who live and work in and around Magna have a real sense of community. Each time I visit, I fell that I am going to some lace unique. There is an energy that ebbs throughout the area.
“The area also has a great heritage. It is evidenced in conversations with people like Ernie Colosimo whose Market and Sausage Factory have thrived since 1923 despite the ups and downs in the local economy. I also feel a sense of Manga’s tradition when I attend the Our Lady of Lourdes Annual Spaghetti Dinner. Each October, members of the Church cook for days to serve plates of steaming spaghetti and meatballs (made of course with Colosimo’s sausage) to the hungry masses of people from all denominations and across the County. They gather in the 80 year old Church Hall for this annual “family” dinner and fundraiser. My children usually leave with spaghetti sauce from head to toe!
“What strikes me the most is the passion that the Magna Chamber, Community and Town Councils share in ensuring positive growth and economic development for the 240 businesses and 7,200 homes in the area. They are committed to local businesses through programs they administer in conjunction with Salt Lake County. The Chamber and Council members are all volunteers. The hours, personal resources, and talents they contribute are immeasurable. And they do it happily to better the lives of others. They get things done and make things happen!
“Magna has a promising future not only for those who reside there, but for the new people and new businesses moving into the region.”

Thank you for helping clean up magna with the trash dumpsters and all those that helped. It would be nice to see modern curb and gutters in old Magna as the ones that we have are falling apart from age. I would love to see this place fixed up as this town is a friendly place to live.
Growing up in Magna I’ve seen the ups and downs your building a beautiful new Library directly at the bottom of my street which i’m very happy to see it coming down into the heart of Magna but there are pleanty of plances around it that need to be cleaned up Like the old Gem theatre that was used in makeing a movie they set it on fire and its been left that way a Place to the east of it that has to many cars and is not suppost to have that many unlicensed cars around it and a soon to be empty senior center hopefully will be used for something useful instead of setting empty. The market acrossed from the new library that needs to be cleaned up and checked for wrongful selling of cigarettes and beer to minors. as a permanent property owner of Magna I would like to see these areas and homes around the area made to clean up around there homes so we can live in a place we can be proud to call home and retire in.
Since Magna is a Township under the direction of unincorporated Salt Lake County, and doesn’t have a way to collect taxes. So that we may have funding source to pay for the purchase and cleanup of these properties that you have mentioned.
If you have a property that you would like looked into you can contact the Salt Lake County Code Enforcement at http://www.pwpds.slco.org/cfApps/zoning/codeEnforcement/.
Then you also have to remember that property owners have the right to use their property as they see fit as long as there isn’t a hazard to the public or the surrounding neighbors. With that there is a very fine line that may be crossed in the name of freedom and government control.
