Since when was our independence day celebrated on the 3rd and not the 4th? Just sayin! Should be fun but really kinda silly not to do it on the 4th. I mean that is the whole reason why we have the holiday. Pretty sure all the other states will do what they should.

  14. ken on July 1st, 2010 2:41 pm

ya i know thats what i thought when we moved here,,,,,we still celebrate on sunday, the way it was intended,,,,crazy,,,,,,,this country is about JULY 4th, Not Utah,,,,

  15. kel on July 1st, 2010 3:06 pm

I search several state web sites to find out who else might be cele. on the third so far utah is the only state who has issues with haveing the 4th of july on the fourth???? its stupid, even Idaho’s celebration is on the fourth. why does religon take precedence over an american holliday duh figure that out its not a holiday to celebrate utah its to be joined as a nation and our freedom. Its a fedral holiday not a religious holiday

  16. Utahn on July 1st, 2010 5:27 pm

A celebration is one thing, but if you want people to actually show up, you do what the majority of people will accept.

  17. Bill Gray on July 2nd, 2010 6:38 am

You can grouse about it not being on the 4th, or you can support the tremendous efforts that have been put into this celebration and enjoy. Anger and bitterness vs. happiness, joy, and respect for what was done for us many, many years ago. Which is the better choice?

  18. Joe Bob on July 2nd, 2010 11:30 am

For those complaining about the parade and all being on Saturday, the Declaration of Independence was actually signed on July 2, 1776.

  19. Missy on July 2nd, 2010 12:09 pm

I want to know what happened to the baby contest? It has been apart of our 4th celebration for as long as I can remember. But for the past 3 years they have not had one, why? It needs to be brought back!

  20. heidi richhart on July 2nd, 2010 8:17 pm

Where can you park for the parade?

  21. Magnite on July 3rd, 2010 1:06 am

If you guys want more events volunteer next year! the more hands there are helping the more we can do :)

  22. Jen A on July 3rd, 2010 8:00 am

Why are you people calling it the 4Th of July? Its Independence Day!! You dont call Christmas the 25Th of December. Just be grateful you have your freedom.

  23. mike on July 3rd, 2010 7:34 pm

Certainly, the vote on July 2 was the decisive act. But July 4, 1776 is the date on the Declaration itself. Jefferson’s stirring prose, as edited by the Congress, was first adopted by the July 4 vote. It was also the first day Philadelphians heard the official news of independence from the Continental Congress, as opposed to rumors in the street about secret votes

Can anyone tell me what exactly will be going on today (Sunday) and if there will be fireworks at dusk? Thanks.
