Main Street Arts Festival

On Historic Magna Main Street

On Saturday August 28th, Magna’s Historic Main Street will host the first annual Main Street Arts Festival. The festival is presented by the Magna Arts Council. This special event will include food, music, dancing, art exhibits, a raffle, activities, and more.
Painting, photography, writing, sculpture, drawing, and other creative works, will be on display. Main Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday to make room for vendors, artists, games, and more. Twelve live bands will be playing, and other special performers will be entertaining people on the street. There will be games and activities for the kids, and other events to participate in. There will be something exciting happening all day!
- Prize Drawings will be held at the top of every hour at the Main Stage. Visit a vendor or business on Main Street to get a raffle ticket.
- All businesses on Main Street will be open and many will be having special offers during the festival.
- Free Sidewalk Chalk all day.
Volunteers

The Main Street Arts Festival is made possible by the hard work of volunteers. We need your help to make this event a success. Volunteer opportunities are available in areas such as: Information Booth, Set-up, Clean-up, stage crew, Art Show, Kids Crafts area, vending, and other areas. Training will be provided. You will be in the shade or indoors. Sign up today!

Music Performances will be held at the Main Festival Stage at 9150 West. Performers at this year’s festival include:

Visual Art
The Third Annual Community Art Show will be held during the festival.
New this year – Photography Category!
Artists from Salt Lake and Tooele Counties are welcome to enter. Bring your original work, created within the last two years. Paintings and photographs must be framed and ready to hang.
Drop off your entries with submission form and entry fee at the Magna Branch of Zions Bank, 8375 West 3500 South, during regular banking hours, by Thursday, August 19th.
Works will be judged prior to an Opening Reception held at 7:00 pm on Friday the 27th at 9145 West 2700 South. Participants and their guests are invited to the reception for light refreshments and announcement of the winners. Cash awards in each division will be as follows: First $50, Second $30, and Third $20.
Categories are: Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor, Photography, and 3-D/Sculpture.

Performing Arts
At the Main Street Arts Festival all types of artistic expression will be included. Dancing, Theater, Comedy, Magic, Buskers, storytelling, and many other special performances.
Special Performances by:
- OPA Greek Dancers and Dionysios Greek Dancers from 7 to 9
- The First Annual Storytelling festival at the Empress Theatre from 2 to 9
- Aerial Dance Performances at various times in the Empress Theatre
- Book Readings and signing by local authors, Rob Goble and Chaz Collard.
- The 337 Project truck will be traveling to Magna for the festival.
- Hip Hop art demonstration by Uprok Records
- Dance performances and classes at the Magna Senior Center from 1 to 5

At the Main Street Arts Festival, we will have over 50 vendors stretching up and down Main Street.
Browse arts and crafts for sale from local artists. Get information from local non-profit groups. Make a purchase at any vendor and receive a raffle ticket.
Featured Food Vendors include The Chow Truck, P & K Oriental Market, Tacos, Western Style Barbaque, The Fry Guy Donuts, and more.

This looks like it could be pretty fun!
Our band would like to come and play live classic rock (Tom petty, soul asylum, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and similar originals) at this event. We’re based in Sandy, have a high quality sound, and would like to play once or twice over this wknd for at least an hour. Sounds like fun and we’d like to participate ! Hello, my name is Jesse Michael Garcia and I am the drummer for a three-piece original rock band named ‘Shift Shadows’ based out of SLC, Utah. ONE is a classic rock cover band that would like to come and support Magna during their Arts Festival. We are a five-piece band and love to play at venues like this. We have played at Draper Days, The Wasatch County Fair, AM-JAM, Best In Music, Clinton Days, etc. We have even played at The Filling Station there in Magna.
