Arts Festival

Main Street Arts Festival
August 27th and 28th 2010
On Historic Magna Main Street

In years past Magna’s Historic Main Street was a vibrant and thriving city center, shops lined the street, and residents gathered for events like the 4th of July and Copper Days. Growth and changes in the mining industry had a negative effect on Main Street, but things have begun to change. In the last few years over ten new businesses have opened on Main Street, The Empress Theatre opened, and now a new library and senior center will open this year. To celebrate a rebirth of Main Street and help unite our community, a festival will take place on August 27th and 28th, 2010.

In the tradition of past block parties and festivals on Main Street, the Magna Chamber of Commerce, Magna Arts Council, and Magna Town Council are proud to announce the “Main Street Arts Festival.” This two day event will include food, music, dancing, art exhibits, movies, activities, and more.

Local artists will be able to enter and display their work in exhibits that will be located in various building on Main Street. Painting, photography, writing, poetry, sculpture, drawing, and other creative works, will be on display. Main Street will be closed to traffic on Saturday to make room for vendors, artisits, games, and more. Live bands will be playing, movies will be playing in the park, and performers will be entertaining people on the street. There will be games and activities for the kids, and community art projects to participate in. It will be a fun event with something for everyone!

ONE is a classic rock cover band that would like to come and support Magna during their Arts Festival. We are a five-piece band and love to play at venues like this. We have played at Draper Days, The Wasatch County Fair, AM-JAM, Best In Music, Clinton Days, etc. We have even played at The Filling Station there in Magna. Check out our website at http://www.onerockband.com for bios on the band and to listen to some of our music. Check out our list of songs there too – you’ll find songs from Journey, Tom Petty, Eagles, .38 Special, Rick Springfield, Toto, ZZ Top, Wild Cherry, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix and many more. We’d love to come and support your efforts in making this an affair to remember!
