The Salt Lake County Kennecott Tailings Committee is seeking proposals from the community on what to do with the remaining money from the Tailings Study. In 2008 Kennecott Copper Company dedicated funds to Salt Lake County to independently study the South East Tailings Impoundment. Funds that were left over were directed by Kennecott Copper Company to be distributed to entities within the community as deemed appropriate by the Salt Lake County Kennecott Tailings Impoundment Committee.
